Megan is a nutrition + herbal medicine consultant and educator, focused on balanced living.
Areas of Focus
-
I help individuals calm down their overactive sympathetic nervous system (stress) so they are more able to operate from their parasympathetic nervous system (state of rest). Continual secretion of stress hormones (cortisol, epinephrine, norepinephrine) can wreck havoc on the body, leading to dysregulated blood sugar, autoimmunity, gastrointestinal issues, inflammation, etc. It is imperative to manage the stress response.
-
Autoimmunity is highly correlated with an overactive stress response and childhood trauma. Multiple studies have found a positive correlation between a high childhood ACE score and adult onset autoimmunity. I assist my autoimmune clients by helping them a) manage the stress response, b) calm down an overactive immune system and c) support an inflammed GI tract.
-
GI inflammation is highly correlated with multiple pathologies as our gut impacts nutrient absorption, immunity, hormonal balance and overall health. I have a very holistic approach to GI health by focusing on the entire alimentary canal and enlightening my clients on how all aspects impact the other. If one area is out of balance it will impact the rest. GI imbalance is also highly correlated with stress. Thus, we also focus on managing the stress response.
-
I believe education is key. If individuals are not properly educated regarding the inner workings of their body then they are not adequately empowered. Outside of teaching classes in the community and online I spend a significant amount of time educating my clients during our initial consultation. My clients leave our meeting being informed as to why there is imbalance in their bodies and how their current lifestyle factors are impacting their overall health.

Nutrition
My philosophy with food is if you can hunt it, raise it, forage it, make it, or grow it, then eat it. Otherwise, do not consume often or in excess. Food should be eaten in its most natural and stable form - as nature intended. When we eat real food, provide our body with needed nutrients, assess our systems holistically and balance out our hormones, we will start to heal.
I work as a nutrition consultant helping clients remotely or in person, focusing on a holistic approach to ensure adequate healing in the body.
